The F-16s are currently produced at the company’s Fort Worth facility. The last F-16 from the Fort Worth plant will be delivered in September. At that time the facility will transition into production of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. It will take two years for F-16 production to be established at Lockheed’s Greenville facility at the South Carolina Technology and Aviation Center, or SCTAC.
Leslie Farmer, spokesperson for Lockheed’s Greenville operations, said that the company will likely train F-16 workers in Greenville Technical College’s Aircraft Maintenance Program.
