Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics’ Director of Admissions Steven Sabold and JSFirms’ Operations Manager Jeff Richards joined Pittsburgh Sunday Business Page’s Jon Delano earlier this month to discuss the need for skilled mechanical and technical workers in the aerospace and aviation industry.
According to Boeing’s current market outlook, the aviation industry will need more than 1 million new workers by 2035.
Sabold discussed PIA’s 21-month aviation maintenance technology training program that teaches student how to repair and maintain all variety of aircraft. Aircraft maintenance technicians are in high demand in the industry because all maintenance work completed on any aircraft must be signed off on by a certified technician. As flight hours increase, the demand for these jobs also increases to keep aircraft in service. PIA offers the course at its Myrtle Beach campus.
