GE Aviation and Turbocoating Corp. have announced plans to open a joint venture operation facility in Spartanburg County.
Advanced Ceramic Coatings, a joint venture between GE Aviation and Turbocoating Corp., plans to invest $15 million in this facility and create 50 new jobs by 2022.
The company, headquartered in Hickory, N.C., uses proprietary coating technology developed by Turbocoating Corp. combined with coating processes used by GE Aviation for ceramic matrix composite material. The coatings are used in jet engines.
Advanced Ceramic Coatings will locate at 1191 Howell Road in Duncan in a 62,500-square-foot facility. The company said it plans to be operational in Spartanburg County in the third quarter of 2017. Hiring for the new positions is expected to begin in the second quarter of 2017.
