SC Aerospace holds quarterly event at SiMT in Florence

Aero WinterSC Aerospace held its winter quarterly networking event at the Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology (SiMT) in Florence on Feb. 15. The event was sponsored by MTorres America which is headquartered in Bothell, WA. Vice President of Business Development Mark Cumm provided a presentation about the company’s future plans.

Each SC Aerospace quarterly event includes a company spotlight that features an aerospace company in the state. Acutec Precision Aerospace, Inc. was the featured company at the event and Dan Bras, sales director, provided an overview of their operations.

SC Aerospace Director Deborah Cameron discussed recent activities of SC Aerospace including the progress of the Education Work Group and an update on the planning for the annual conference. Cameron also gave attendees an opportunity to share recent news in their companies.

Advisory Board members, Paul Kumler, Paul Witt, Hunter Dalton, and Steve Prout participated in a panel session moderated by SC Aerospace Chairman Steve Townes.

Fred Gassaway and Anita Patel with the SC Department of Commerce introduced the department’s defense diversification program and international trade services that are available to SC companies. Patel also reiterated the benefit for aerospace companies to participate in the Paris Air Show which will be held in June 2017.

Following the presentations, SiMT provided a tour of their facility. The meeting concluded with a networking lunch.

SiMT hosted the first SC Aerospace quarterly event two years ago.  The next SC Aerospace quarterly event will be held in May 2017.
